HOW TO BLOCK CONTENT

With SkyBest TV's Parental Block, you can choose the type of content that can be viewed on each individual television set based on movie and TV ratings. With this convenient option, you can choose to allow your children's TVs to show only “G” – rated materials, while you can enjoy your favorite shows on your television in another room. The process is quite simple, here's how:

First, make sure your Parental Controls are turned on-

  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select "settings"and press OK on your remote.
  3. Enter your password and press OK. (The default password is 1234. We strongly recommend that this be changed immediately. See instructions below to change password.)
  4. You will be on the "Preferences" tab, it will be highlighted. Using the arrow buttons on your remote, scroll to "Parental Controls" and press OK on your remote. A check should appear in the box to the left of "Parental Controls." (If the box already has a check mark in it, your Parental Controls are already turned on.)

To block content based on ratings-

  1. Scroll to the "Users" tab and press OK on your remote.
  2. Scroll to "Parental Controls" and press OK on your remote.
  3. To set your Movie Rating Controls, use your arrow buttons to scroll to "Movie rating" and press OK on your remote. Use the arrow buttons to select the highest movie rating that you would like to be viewed on this television set and press OK. (For more information on movie ratings, see below.)
  4. To set your TV Rating Controls, use the arrow buttons to scroll to "TV rating" and press OK on your remote. Use the arrow buttons to select the highest TV rating that you would like to be viewed on this television set and press OK. (For more information on TV ratings, see below.)
  5. To Block by Content Rating, use your arrow buttons to move to the content rating listings (i.e. Violence, Suggestive Language, etc.) Select each rating that you wish to block and press OK on your remote to make a check appear next to that rating.
  6. When you are finished setting your Movie Ratings, TV Ratings and Content Ratings, use your arrow buttons to select "Submit" and press OK.
  7. A message will appear stating that your settings have been successfully updated. Press OK and Exit (located above the blue button) to return to your TV viewing.

You will still be able to see channels with blocked content in the guide, however, the guide will say channel blocked and your child will be unable to view the channel. If you would like to view a channel that is being blocked you can use the Unlock Timeout feature. This feature allows you to temporally override parental control settings by entering your PIN number.

  1. Highlight the blocked channel you wish to view in the guide and press OK on the remote.
  2. Click on "Unlock Parental Controls".
  3. Enter your password and press OK on the remote. (The default password is 1234. We strongly recommend that this be changed immediately. See instructions below to change password.)
  4. You can now view the channel.

The standard Unlock Timeout is automatically set to 30 minutes. To change this time-

  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select "settings"and press OK on your remote.
  3. Enter your password and press OK. (The default password is 1234. We strongly recommend that this be changed immediately. See instructions below to change password.)
  4. Scroll to "Unlock Timeout" and press OK on the remote. Then, using the arrow buttons on your remote select the new Timeout length you would like to implement. The times increase in increments of 30 minutes and ends at 1440 minutes (24 hours).
  5. When finished scroll to "Submit" and click OK on your remote.

HOW TO BLOCK SPECIFIC CHANNELS

Would you like to eliminate a specific channel? Even make it disappear from your electronic program guide? Follow these simple steps to block channels.

  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select "Settings" and press OK.
  3. Enter your password and press OK. (The default password is 1234. We strongly recommend that this be changed immediately. See instructions below to change password.)
  4. You will be on the "Preferences" tab, it will be highlighted. Use the arrow buttons to select "Channel Blocking" and press OK. A check should appear in the box to the left of "Channel Blocking."
  5. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to select "Edit"and press OK on your remote.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the list of channels. Press OK when the channel(s) that you wish to block is selected. A small "lock" symbol will appear next to the channel name(s).
  7. When you have chosen every channel that you would like to block, use your arrow button to select "Update" and press OK. (You may need to scroll left then down to get to "Update".)
  8. Blocked channels will no longer appear in your electronic program guide. To unblock channels, simply repeat the same process but this time remove the "lock" symbol from the desired channels.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR PIN NUMBER AND PASSWORD

You are required to have a password to get into the menu setting to add, edit or remove Parental Blocks and Channel Blocks. We strongly recommend that you change your password so that children cannot access these settings. You are required to have a pin number to order Pay-Per-View Movies. We strongly encourage you to change your PIN Number and keep it in a safe place to avoid unauthorized movie purchases. You are responsible for all Pay-Per-View movies ordered on your account.

Initial PIN Number: 1234
Initial Password: The last 4 digits of your phone number

  1. Press the MENU button on your remote control.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to choose "Settings" and press OK on your remote.
  3. Enter your password and press OK.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to select the "Users" tab. Press OK.
  5. Use the arrow buttons to select "Edit" and press OK.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select the password box and enter you current password.
  7. Use the arrow buttons to select the new password box and enter your new password.
  8. Use the arrow button to select the confirm password box and confirm your new password.
  9. Use the arrow buttons to select the PIN box and enter your PIN number.
  10. Use the arrow buttons to select the new PIN box and enter your new PIN number.
  11. Use the arrow buttons to select the confirm PIN box and confirm your new PIN number.
  12. Use the arrow buttons to select "Submit" and press OK.
  13. Press OK when settings are successfully updated. Press Exit (located above the blue button on your remote) to return to your TV viewing.
